Margot Wednesday 22 April 3.05 AM: “Sweeties, He is here! Our dear Adam is born at home after a very fast delivery. Both me and baby are doing well and he is already drinking. We will be in contact later, because this has been a rollercoaster.”
9 days before the due date I received this text. My best friend had just delivered her first baby boy, Adam! I couldn’t have been more happy, excited and full of adrenaline when I received that text. For me it was 9 PM, because of the time difference. I am originally from the Netherlands, which is 6 hours ahead of us. I was awake and watching tv with my hubs. Due to COVID-19 my flight to the Netherlands in the end of May was cancelled. I was supposed to visit Adam, but now it looked like I probably would see him for Christmas. I couldn’t believe this! The first born baby in my girls group, I just had to meet him and didn’t want to wait until he was 8 months!
I found out that I could fly to Europe after all, as long as you had a green-card or a diplomats visa. Lucky me!!!! It was decided and 3 weeks later I sat in an almost empty plane to the Netherlands. Of course I had to photograph the beautiful new family and so I met up with them in their house. I was so super excited to meet him! Margot was over the moon to show off her beautiful son! She handed him over immediately. After a lot of cuddles and kisses, it was time to start the shoot. But then…. Where did I leave the camera? Did I not? Oh no! Margot joked: “you didn’t forget your camera right?!” Euhm.. yes I did…
I guess that sums up how excited I was to meet the little guy. Please enjoy a second photoshoot attempt with family De Vries.
